Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Duncraig to Plockton

The walk from Duncraig Castle to Plockton village is only about 2.5km (1.5 miles) so it’s possible to take a daytrip to Plockton and do a there & back walk. We did it as a walk between Duncraig and Plockton railway stations.

There are two path options, one closer to the shore which involves a small level crossing and the other option which is slightly more accessible but much more boring for railway adventurers!

The path, like the railway, follows along near the edge of Loch Carron. It’s sometimes rough terrain with a couple of steep sections but very lovely & peaceful.

The railway is so close to the shore of Loch Carron that it has a number of little bridges over streams & burns. The path also crosses under the railway line.
