Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

The Challenge

All The Stations!

To visit every station in Scotland with my dog.

There’s no official set of rules for Railway Challenges with everyone free to create personal goals suiting their own preferences and abilities. Setting ourselves these defined challenges can be great motivation to get out & about and to travel places we might otherwise never see.

There were 357 railway stations in Scotland when we started. Two more have opened since then with another already planned “soon”. We want to visit and explore a little of everywhere those stations are.

The most important thing is that we enjoy the journey and let our “rules” fall aside when they aren’t fun.

A Station Visit.

For Rudy’s Railway we want to explore! To qualify as a station visit for our challenge we must arrive and/or depart by train but also as minimum we’ll take a little walk outside the station. We’ll explore a bit further and go on a proper dog walk whenever we can though.

Record Keeping.

We want to focus on the places we visit. We’ll record what time we arrive & depart and in which direction but rarely mention train numbers, types or headcodes. We do sometimes notice it’s our favourite train but we’re not keeping track for these adventures.

Progress & Evidence.

It’s all about Rudy not his people! If Rudy doesn’t get a photo taken with a station name sign in the background then we won’t count that as a qualifying visit. We’ll always share his station selfie photo online as soon after our trips as we can.

Completing Everything.

All the time in the world. The most important thing is that we enjoy all our trips together. We’ll visit places when we can, weather and mood both being potential obstacles to little terrier dogs & their people. I do hope one day we’ll share that we are finished but we’ll not set a target date.
