Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Possilpark & Parkhouse

Possilpark & Parkhouse

Station 63

23rd September 2020

Rudy caught the 14:45 train to Glasgow Queen Street after walking here from Lambhill Stables.

Possilpark & Parkhouse is a two platform station on the Maryhill Line. Opened in 1993 when British Rail reintroduced stopping passenger services on the route. With the train line here running under Balmore Road the station is accessible via stairs and long gently sloping ramps from street level. The original 1885 Possilpark Station closed in 1950 on the other side of the road bridge but nothing now remains to be seen of it.

This is our last station on the Maryhill Line to properly visit and explore. It’s a small railway route with only eight stations but feels like a big accomplishment to complete it as travel restrictions eased for a short while during 2020 and the covid-19 pandemic!
