Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Carfin

Carfin

Station 151

Rudy visited Carfin on
Wednesday, 1st February 2023
and caught the 14:28 train to Glasgow Central.

Carfin Station

Like Holytown, the history of this station has conflicting information in different records we found. There was a station here called “Newarthill” at the end of the 19th Century and “Carfin Halt” is mentioned at times through the early to mid 1900s.

What is certain is that Carfin station was refurbished in 2018 as part of the electrification of the Shotts Line. 65,000 passengers used the station in the year 2021-2022.

Still winter for all the station planters waiting for community volunteers to tidy up for spring & summer colours!

Carfin is an unstaffed station on the Glasgow Central to Edinburgh via Shotts line.

There are no toilet facilities. There is step-free access to both platforms. Access between platforms is via the road bridge.
