South Gyle Station

South Gyle is a residential & commercial area on the western edge of the City of Edinburgh. The station is relatively new in UK railway history opening in May 1985. This coincided with more houses being built in the area pre-dating the large shopping centre and commercial estates close by.

As the last unstaffed station from Fife into Edinburgh without ticket barriers, the accuracy of passenger number estimates could be questioned. In 2021-2022 numbers recovered less than average to only 33% of previous recorded levels.

South Gyle is an unstaffed station on the Fife Circle and Edinburgh to Dundee lines. Facilities are limited to waiting shelters, ticket machines and information help points.

There is step-free ramp access to both platforms with a road bridge connecting between them. There are no toilets.
