Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Aviemore: Speyside & Craigellachie

Speyside Picnic

Aviemore in the Cairngorm Mountains of the Scottish Highlands is commonly used as a base for hill walkers and winter sports. After his long train journey from Glasgow Rudy decided that a nice picnic walk along the River Spey would be enough for today!

The River Spey Trail features on Aviemore’s walking maps & leaflets as a one mile walk that sticks close to the river bank.

Craigellachie National Nature Reserve

Craigellachie is a hill just west of Aviemore in the Cairngorms. The nature reserve on it’s slopes includes four marked walking trails but the path network is more extensive than just those. This means you can choose your own route preference for height, views, woods or just round the lochans.

Rudy loves exploring woodland paths so no wonder he looks disappointed that this one stops here!

Rudy is good at asking for treats but not so good at eye-contact 😅
