Ardrossan Harbour

From Wikipedia : Ardrossan Harbour railway station is one of three remaining railway stations in the town of Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail but unusually it is not owned by Network Rail, but instead owned by Peel Ports. It is on the Ayrshire Coast Line, 32.5 miles (52.3 km) south west of Glasgow Central. The station is an interchange for Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sailings to Brodick on the Isle of Arran.

Ardrossan South Beach

A "let's catch the first train to wherever" plan led us to catch the 13:15 Ardrossan train from Glasgow Central. So did the rain! A very (short) blustery walk along Ardrossan Beach followed before catching "the first train out of here"!

Dalry

Fairlie ✓

A second visit to the Largs Branch in less than ten days suggests some organising went on to focus on this route. Nope! Just a very warm July afternoon meant we looked for somewhere that involved shade, water and a beach. Fairlie ticked all the boxes and was a wonderful day out on the Ayrshire Coast.
