Kilwinning is about 26 miles south of Glasgow. It's where the railway splits for the northern branch Ayrshire Coast stations to Ardrossan & Largs and the line south to Ayr itself and onwards to Stranraer. It was opened in 1840 and the main station building sits in the V of the junction. A new frontage, footbridge and lifts were added in 2019
