Looking back on February 2019, Rudy enjoyed two day trips by train and visited two new stations. Along the way we caught 9 trains.

Day Trip: Monday, 25th Feb 19

Rudy caught five trains this afternoon, travelling from Gilshochill to Anniesland, Hyndland and Dalmarnock.

Dalmarnock was closed for almost a year before the 2014 Commonwealth Games to undergo improvement works but by the time we visited five years later it had a rather damp & dingy feel.

Dalmarnock Regeneration

At Dalmarnock we walked along Springfield Road and then crossed the Clyde at the Cuningar Loop footbridge. This was the area worst affected by the 2014 Commonwealth Games regeneration. Rudy isn't certain about the two faces of Dalmarnock just no

Cuningar Loop Woodland Park The Clyde here is the boundary between council areas so this park is in Lanarkshire rather than Glasgow City. And it's a very good new park! There's a lovely open grass area for picnics (or running around). Th

Cambuskenneth & the River Forth

Rudy's trip to Stirling started with a bit of sunshine on the train before a wee historical walk. Heading along the River Forth he made a quick visit to Cambuskenneth to see the ruined Abbey and then he followed a friendly black labrador along

Not finished with Stirling after his Riverside wander, Rudy headed up Gowan Hill to look for rabbits and then went round The Back Walk wood-carving trail before getting a selfie with the castle!
