The first part of Rudy's walk from Duncraig station was along to the lawn garden of Duncraig Castle, a Scottish baronial style mansion house built near the shore of Loch Carron in 1866.

After being sold by the original owning family in the 1920s, Duncraig was used as a Naval Hospital durign World War II and then bequeathed to the local council who used it as a home economics college until 1989. Sold back into private hands in 2002 a reality tv show was made about the family living there during renovations.

Duncraig Castle has been open as holiday accommodation and in use as a wedding venue at varying times over the past few years but it seems to have failed to secure a permanent future.
