For his short walk from Coatdyke Rudy visited the railway viaduct which crosses a small burn and park just next to the station.
Coatdyke Viaduct is a ten-span brick viaduct just to the east of Coatdyke station in the Monklands area of North Lanarkshire. It was built from 1860-1863 and is now a Grade B Listed structure.
Centenary Park
Coatdyke Viaduct stretches over this park on the historic boundary between Coatbridge and Airdrie. Centenary Park is named for the 100 year anniversary of Airdrie losing it’s village status by becoming a Burgh of Barony in 1821 and electing it’s first Town Council.
Centenary Park is a small park next to busy roads without a surrounding fence, best for dogs on their lead or under very close control.
