Nope! Just a very warm July afternoon meant we looked for somewhere that involved shade, water and a beach.
Fairlie ticked all the boxes and was a wonderful day out on the Ayrshire Coast. Rudy visited
Fairlie is the penultimate station on the Largs Branch in North Ayrshire. Opened in 1880 it was reduced to a single platform during the 1986 electrification of the line here. In the second half of the 20th Century the goods yard and sidings were used to support the nearby Hunterston Nuclear Power Stations including transport of the nuclear fuel itself.
