Another good breezy day on a beach for Rudy! This time we visited the East Lothian seaside town of North Berwick where we walked along the West Bay Beach close to the train station.
North Berwick is on the south shore of the Firth of Forth just where it joins the North Sea. We spent most of our time enjoying the West Bay Beach – beachcombing, taking photos, enjoying the views and running around daft digging in the sand.
North Berwick Harbour
North Berwick Harbour was built in the twelfth century when ferry traffic across the Forth was increasing. The route was often used at the time by pilgrims heading to St Andrews. It’s now home to the Scottish Seabird Centre and the East Lothian Yacht Club.
The Seabird Centre also has a cafe where Rudy stopped for lunch with views across the East Sands and out to Bass Rock.
Views of food being eaten were also available.
North Berwick Town
North Berwick is a proper little seaside tourist town with links to Robert Louis Stevenson dotted around the streets amongst lots of other local history information.
The North Berwick Witch Trials in 1590 were amongst the first to take place in Scotland.
