Newcraighall to Musselburgh
A walk between Newcraighall and Musselburgh stations.
When I planned this walk it was going to be a quick twenty minutes along a cycle path between two railway stations good for a rainy day. It had been saved as that idea for a long time! Since the planning, what was inaccessible "wasteland" fields next to the path have been explored by people so much that there are now paths marked on OpenStreetMap. Satellite view maps show them as not much more than worn desire paths (probably from dog walkers!) but that's exactly the sort of place that Rudy & I like exploring.
Going past Newcraighall Public Park it was clear the pitches are in active use by the local football team proud of their facilities. That means dogs shouldn't be running around ruining their pitch surface, not even a little terrier snuffling up the grass.
Denial of park chases meant Rudy was incredibly excited to be let off lead to run around the woodland growing on the abandoned spaces on this walk - he could hardly stand himself still for photos!
