K-Woodlands
A walk at Hairmyres train station.
Between Hairmyres station and it's replacement site stretches the K-Woodlands. A 16 hectare community woodland owned and managed by The East Kilbride Community Trust. We visited on a quiet mid-week afternoon for a picnic (and siesta) but there are lots of community organised events held here including well-being walks and regular free kids nature & outdoors classes over Summer. Larger gala events also use the open spaces around the woods - in 2019 the woodlands hosted East Kilbride's first ever Pride!
