Whiteinch Branch

A walk at Jordanhill train station.

We walked along Victoria Park Nature Trail created from the old Whiteinch Railway line which ran from Jordanhill to "Whiteinch Victoria Park" station. This short 1 mile branch line was originally goods only connecting with Clydeside industry until a station was opened to directly serve Victoria Park and (coincidentally!?!) capture passengers from a competing railway. The line was closed in 1967 and nothing remains visible of the station or tracks except the curved route and overbridge alignments being clearly Railway. The main section is well maintained cycle path quality but we used a wee back lane to explore the wilder eastern end first which may be a little unofficial but is also the more interesting bit for wee terrier dogs.
