Cartsdyke to Port Glasgow
A walk between Cartsdyke and Port Glasgow stations.
Greenock was a battleground for early railway company rivalry. Each trying to win all the steamer traffic by building their own lines terminating as close to the piers as they could. From Cartsdyke station we took a walk along one of the abandoned routes that's now a cycle & walking path.
The Greenock & Ayrshire railway ran further from the Clyde along this section so we just enjoyed the views rather than go down to the water for now. Pure coincidence that there was a quiet shady place for our picnic on a hot day.
