Gearrchoille Community Wood

A walk at Ardgay train station.

The Gearrchoille Woodland was gifted to Ardgay in 2002 but has a longer history of community use than that. The old curling pond for the village was here and in long gone days the woodland meadow was used as an overnight stop for drovers. There's now an all-abilities to a picnic area as well as these rougher paths closer to the train station that were better suited for Rudy's lunchtime picnic walk. That big egg-like stone is "The Clach Eiteag" which apparently was moved from parish to parish to mark the site of the local market. Not convinced at that story to be honest 😅
