Forsinard Flows

A walk at Forsinard train station.

Forsinard station is in the heart of the Flow Country. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2024 described as "the most expansive and best example of blanket bog in the world" and "a rolling, rugged expanse of precious peatland and mountain scenery where lizards scurry and Hen Harriers soar". The RSPB manage a nature reserve at Forsinard Flows which provides a boardwalk path to a lookout tower on their Dubh Lochan Trail. Dogs must be on a short lead to not disturb the wildlife and habitat but the wind brought all the smells Rudy could want without him having to leave my side (humans should also stay on the paths here). We were cold in the brisk morning wind but at least it kept all the midgies away!
