One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Prestwick Town

Prestwick Town

Station 101

Rudy visited Prestwick Town on
Tuesday, 1st February 2022
and caught the 15:11 train to
Glasgow Central.

Prestwick Town Station

Prestwick Town was first opened as just “Prestwick” in 1839 by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway. It was renamed in 1994 when the station at Prestwick Airport was built.

The current station buildings date from the 1900s but the footbridge is a replacement from 1986 when the line here was electrified.

Prestwick Town is 40 minutes by train from Glasgow Central towards Ayr. Both platforms theoretically have level access with Platform 1 having a separate (steep) entrance ramp from Links Road. The ticket office and toilets are open until evening.
