Hillfoot Station

Hillfoot was opened in 1900 when the Milngavie branch line had proved a success and was being upgraded to double track. Prior to 2020 the station saw over 300,000 passengers each year.

There was a lot of salt on the platform at Hillfoot when we visited (for a forecast freeze that never happened). Station platforms in Scotland often have a large amount of salt put down during the winter months and it’s something to be careful of and always clean off dog paws.

Hillfoot is within the Bearsden suburb to the north-west of Glasgow just outside the city council’s limits It’s just over twenty minutes journey from Glasgow Queen Street on trains towards Milngavie.

There is level access to both platforms from the nearby roads. The station is unstaffed with no toilet facilities available.
