Easterhouse Station

Easterhouse Railway Station.

The original station was built here in 1871 south of a small hamlet on the south bank of Monklands Canal.

The station has been completely rebuilt since then and like Easterhouse itself has only a vague connection to its 19th Century origins.

The station is now to the north of the Easterhouse 1950s & 60s housing schemes and to the south of the M8 Motorway which was built on the canal path from here into Glasgow.

Easterhouse is a little over 15 minutes journey from Glasgow Queen Street low level on eastbound North Clyde Line trains towards Airdrie & Edinburgh.

The station should be staffed throughout the day but there are no passenger toilets. Both platforms have step-free access via long, gentle sloping ramps.
