Clydebank Station
The first Clydebank station was originally an 1882 terminus but when the line was extended in 1897 it was bypassed by the new route. Stuck on a short branch line all by itself it was renamed Clydebank East and managed to survive until 1959! The town’s second & third stations, Clydebank Riverside and Kilbowie survived until 1964.
The current Clydebank station dates from 1897 and was officially named Clydebank Central from 1907 to 1965. The original buildings have been replaced with modern functional ticket office & waiting room.
Rudy had a good walk at Clydebank going down to the Clyde to see a big crane and run around some waste ground on such a lovely afternoon.
Still keen to get his train home for dinner time though!
Clydebank is twenty minutes from Glasgow Central low level platforms and is usually staffed throughout the morning with toilet facilities avilable during these times.
There are step-free (but rather steep) ramps to both platforms and a nearby underpass to connect between them avoiding the footbridge.
