Carrbridge Station

Carrbridge was opened in 1892 when the Inverness and Aviemore Direct Railway was being built to shorten the journey from the Lowlands to Inverness. It wasn’t until 1897 that trains ran all the way through to Inverness and the station building dates from around this time.

The station name was styled “Carr Bridge” until 1983 and many references to the village choose to hyphenate the name as Carr-Bridge both of which emphasise that the name has nothing to do with modern day cars. “Carr” is derived from the Old Norse for boggy or swampy ground!

Carrbridge is 25 minutes from Inverness on trains heading south on the Highland Main Line.

The station is unstaffed with no facilities or ticket buying options available.
Level access is only available to the main platform with an old footbridge to platform 1.
