Bellgrove is in the Dennistoun area in the east end of Glasgow. It’s the second stop on trains heading east through Glasgow Queen Street low level platform 9. Originally opened in 1871 it’s an island platform with the only access being stairs down from Bellgrove Street. Bellgrove was once an important destination for goods trains carrying live cattle to pens south of the current platform. The site of the huge cattle & meat market still lies empty just to the west of the station with the railway running in tunnels beneath it.
