Prestwick is a seaside town just north of Ayr on the Firth of Clyde coast. The railway line follows the coast quite closely here with the beach less than five minutes from Prestwick Town station.
Rudy walked along the coast from Newton-On-Ayr to visit the promenade and beach at Prestwick. Quite a blustery walk in February so Rudy was left chasing the wind rather than other dogs!
There’s some very fancy old villas here built by Glasgow’s rich middle class in the 1800s after the railway made the town accessible for them but I think we prefer the crashing waves and stormy sea.
Prestwick was once home to Prestwick Bathing Lake which was Scotland’s largest swimming pool. The lido wall is still there surrounding a concrete playground next to a large carpark.
