Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Greenock: Murdieston Park & Dam

A last minute change of walk plans on a busy adventuring day took Rudy to Murdieston Park less than ten minutes from Greenock West station.

Not sleeping, just resting my eyes, honest!

Murdieston Park

Murdieston Park is a small area next to a couple of reservoirs without much shade for a hot August day. After lots of walking earlier in the morning we were happy to just find a quiet spot to sit and have a little lunchtime pause.

Murdieston Dam

To get back to the train home we walked around the Cowdenknowes Reservoir known locally as the Murdieston Dam.

The Greenock Model Yacht Club has been sailing on the reservoir since in 1878. I reckon people have been sitting and enjoying watching the boats for just as long!

Greenock Cemetery

Rudy had planned to visit the huge old Greenock Cemetery but despite confirming on the Inverclyde Council website “Dogs on a leash are permitted”, local signs declared “No dogs” at all. We chose to walk past the Blitz Memorial as important to us but didn’t explore the rest of the cemetery.
