A forest based theme park in the Scottish Highlands that allows dogs to visit was an absolute must for Rudy to visit from Carrbridge.
The park attractions include water coasters, rope & harness climbing trails, a labyrinth, a bamboozeleum, a butterfly house, a dinosaur kingdom, high tower viewpoint and funfair rides. Dogs are allowed to visit all the outdoor spaces as long as they’re kept on a lead during their visit. It’s a great day out 🙂
Lost Labyrinth & Forest Boardwalks
The park has a boardwalk maze that we enjoyed walking round and learning that Rudy is no help at finding the way out when the rules are “stick to the path”. Lucky he trusted us to go round in circles for ages even when stumbling upon a flesh-eating crocodile!!
The forest boardwalks were being reimagined when we visited, the new sections seem wider and more suited to all wheelchair & buggy users while the older treetop path section has a slightly steeper approach which will need a bit more effort for some.
Picnic Time
Dogs are allowed to sit at the outdoor seating next to food stalls but there are also other picnic tables in quieter areas of the park. Rudy chose to lunch at the foot of the Fire Tower while his people took turns climbing to the top!
Dinosaurs!
This was maybe our favourite attraction – lots of huge animatronic dinosaurs roaring at us while we read the information panels all about them. Rudy wasn’t fussed at all by the big scary monsters towering over him no matter how many photos we stopped him for. Was that because science hasn’t figured out what dinosaurs smell like to trick puppy dog noses or was it maybe because Rudy was born of a dinosaur egg himself?!!
The Landmark Forest Adventure Park allows re-entry to ticket holders so dogs can be taken for a longer walk in the neighbouring woods if needed during a full day visit. We spent half a day here and reckon children will definitely spend the full day – more likely to end tired out than bored.
Our experience was fantastic with Rudy even when he had to sit with one person waiting for his other people to enjoy the indoor attractions. The labyrinth maze may be a little narrow for dogs and excited children at the busiest times but the main park paths are wide and very dog friendly. Don’t expect to see any red squirrels if you take a dog on the Treetop Trail though!
It’s not a cheap day out but we felt it good value for two humans + dog. Full details of the theme park can be found on their website at https://www.landmarkpark.co.uk/
