Rudy visited Kings Park in the southside of Glasgow after a good long explore of Croft Park just across the road to the south. Unfortunately for Kings Park this meant we didn’t really give it the time it deserves.
Spread over approximately 60 acres, Glasgow’s Kings Park was acquired by the city in 1930. It has lots of formal lawn space alongside wooded areas to the north west.
There is a walled garden and a sensory garden both of which we missed by heading too strictly towards our train station for home, oops!
Aikenhead House in the middle of the park was built from 1806 to 1823 as a mansion house for a Glasgow merchant but since 1986 has been split into fourteen private apartments.
Kings Park had a lot of dogs being walked on-lead when we visited. The main building is private residence and so cars use the road connecting it out of the park. There are two children’s play areas and despite the park’s size there are no public toilets here.
