Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

Govanhill Park

The nearest park to Pollokshields East station is Govanhill. It’s a small “city square” style park looked after by Glasgow City since 1896 but refurbished in recent years to better reflect current use & needs.

I think Rudy looks quite jealous of how good the children’s play area looks!

The park is fantastically laid out now with a good perimeter path for active walking or wheeling which surrounds four quadrants that are baffled by grassy banks from surrounding noise. The central circle is suggested as a performance or event space for the local community.

The quadrants each have their own use: artificial surfaced sports pitches, two age differentiated children’s areas and one multi-purpose open grass corner for picnics or dog chases. Probably not at the same time though.

Govanhill Park is a Glasgow City Council park but also protected with associated funds from Fields In Trust.
