We’ve started 2022 bursting with motivation to get out and exploring Scotland by train much more often than the last two years. But of course it’s winter and the daylight hours are still fairly short so we’ve focussed that enthusiasm into planning new trips, better recording old ones and anything else that can be done sitting at home, warm & dry!
We’ve created a real progress map and even though there’s lots more to do I feel really happy at how much we’ve explored so far!
The green is all the places we’ve been, the dark grey lines are train routes still to explore. The blue is bonus adventures we’ve taken on ferries. You can view an interactive version on Google’s My Maps page here.
Our actual adventure plans for 2022 already include lots of smaller half-day trips south from Glasgow Central and basing ourselves in Edinburgh for a few days to tackle either the Fife Circle or the Borders stations. The big summer adventure holiday will almost certainly be to either the West Highlands or the Kyle Line but they remain daydreams for a little while yet before booking!
