Rudy's Railway Adventures

One dog, one railway, one heck of an adventure!

May 2021 Update

BIG Plans

Smol dog, big plans.

We had BIG plans for May. Restrictions eased substantially at the end of April with travel permitted around anywhere in Scotland. Plus we had holiday time of seventeen days free from work to play with while tourist accommodation was opening again. We had BIG plans for May!

Highland Holiday

In the end we only ticked off two new stations. The first was Kingussie on the Highland Main Line where we based ourselves in a nice holiday cottage for a few days. The weather and timetable options meant we spent more time “at home” than big days out. Not a hardship as the cottage had a nice garden and (my favourite) a nice conservatory to sit in during the rain showers! We did explore all the way around Creag Bheag to Loch Gynack and visited Ruthven Barracks so lots of photos and a couple of stories.

City Limits

Secret paths are one of our favourite adventures.

Bad luck once we returned to Glasgow though as it was kept under tighter restrictions than the rest of Scotland. That meant the planned daytrips out of the city weren’t allowed. Rather than be stuck at home Rudy explored some new “secret” paths closer to home including along the exact limit of the city boundary. We also took the chance to visit Bellgrove station and the nearby Buffalo Bill statue which has loads of fascinating history to research.

As an extra positive, only two new station adventures meant planning lots more ideas for the future as well as writing so many website updates that we might even catch up! Fingers crossed for good weather and good days in June to go back to our regular day-trip choice of beach, forest, or river?!
