Kinghorn Railway Station

✓ Station Visit 212

Viewing windows cut in the fence so everyone can enjoy looking out at the sandy beach and Firth of Forth - this was always going to be a good station visit. Rudy visited Kinghorn on the 2nd of March 2024 arriving at 13:06 on a train from Markinch.

Kinghorn is a coastal station on the Fife Circle line between Edinburgh and Dundee. Opened in 1847 by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway the railway splits the old town in two. At first the railway caused a drop in Kinghorn's fortunes removing ferry traffic from the area but once the Forth Bridge was built the town was very successfully promoted as a seaside resort. The station looks out across the Firth of Forth and includes wee windows in the fence so that even small terriers can enjoy the view from the platform!
