A very salty station, luckily the weather was better than forecast so no snow & ice for the salt to break up. But still, a very salty station! Rudy visited Hillfoot on the 3rd of April 2022 arriving at 13:30 on a train from Bearsden.

Hillfoot was opened in 1900 when the Milngavie branch line had proved a success and was being upgraded to double track. Prior to 2020 the station saw over 300,000 passengers each year. There was a lot of salt on the platform at Hillfoot when we visited (for a forecast freeze that never happened). Station platforms in Scotland often have a large amount of salt put down during the winter months and it’s something to be careful of and always clean off dog paws.

Hillfoot railway station is a railway station in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire near Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is served by their trains on the Argyle and North Clyde Lines. It is sited between Milngavie and Bearsden, 7 miles 66 chains (12.6 km) from Glasgow Queen Street, measured via Maryhill.
