A morning walk at Glenrothes with Thornton train station.
Being railway adventurers we arrived on a train from Perth via Thornton North Junction rather than the more usual Edinburgh to Fife service. Rudy visited
This is a relatively new station built in 1992 at the "top" of the Fife Circle line. It serves Thornton much better than its vague proximity to Glenrothes! Directly to the east is the East Coast Mainline and the station sits just within a triangular junction. Almost all trains here head towards Edinburgh, either along the coast or inland and therefore use the southern platform 1. Rudy being a little contrary terrier arrived on a train from Perth using the far less common platform 2 side of the station.
