An early start with a very cold wind blowing - it's a Scottish Summer Holiday! Rudy visited Forsinard on the 5th of June 2025 arriving at 07:27 on a train from Thurso.

One of the original stations on the Sutherland and Caithness Railway towards Thurso and Wick, Forsinard opened in 1874. The station building is now used as a visitor centre by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. The waiting shelter on the other platform has an original style heavy door that slides open on rollers rather than the normal push to open. It maybe took us longer than it should have to figure how to work the door!
