Dunblane station has been open since 1848 between Stirling and Perth. A junction to the north provided the Callander and Oban Railway the first route to the western fishing towns completed by 1880. The original station building remains but a new accessible bridge with lifts replaced the cast iron footbridge in 2014. Dunblane is currently the northern most limit of electrification on British railways.
