Crookston Railway Station

✓ Station Visit 114

Rudy visited Crookston on the 14th of May 2022 arriving at 14:24 on a train from Glasgow Central.

Crookston first opened in 1885 and closed in 1983. The station was opened again with the reinstated Paisley Canal Branch Line in 1990 but Crookston was a much reduced station with only one platform required for the now single track route. The original buildings had near burned down while the station was closed but have been rebuilt as private houses well hidden behind foliage to the east end of the station. The footbridge no longer needed was removed to Auchinleck. Due to the very dense trees & bushes and the narrow platform at the station it feels much more rural than its location in Glasgow would suggest.
