Breich Railway Station

✓ Station Visit 203

Rudy visited Breich on the 6th of November 2023 arriving at 13:02 on a train from Glasgow Central.

Breich was opened in 1869 on the Cleland and Midcalder route between Edinburgh and Glasgow. (Now know as the Shotts Line). It was threatened with closure in the late 2010s as one of the least used stations in Scotland with a very limited service and needing substantial investment during electrification of the line here. Luckily the money was spent, train services stepped up to hourly, and by 2022-23 figures the station had seen a hundred-fold increase in passenger numbers!
