Beauly, between Inverness and Dingwall, is the shortest station in the UK. The single platform is just 15.06 metres (49 ft 5 in) long meaning only one door of each train that stops here can open. This modern station was opened in 2002 but the original was much grander! Originally open from 1862 until 1960 the old platforms and station building are still visible across the tracks.
